Southern India

One of the most famous tea cultivation areas is located in Southern India: Nilgiri. The tea gardens in Nilgiri are situated on various mountain ranges on an altitude of up to 2,000 m. The fine, nippy teas are similar to the qualities of Sri Lanka, especially the so-called 'cold-weather' teas from January to March.
